Getting a Database Agent Version String (All Platforms)

All our database agents return version strings, which identify the agent's build date and other details, including the platform for which the agent was compiled.

To retrieve a version string --

  1. Open a CMD/DOS session on Windows, or a Unix terminal session.
  2. Navigate to the OpenLink server components installation directory (e.g., C:\Program Files\OpenLink\, C:\Program Files\OpenLink Software\UDA\, /opt/openlink/).
  3. If on a Unix-like OS, set the OpenLink environment by running the appropriate script for your shell --
    shell command
sh, bash, zsh and related . ./openlink.sh
    ksh and related source ./openlink.sh
csh, tcsh and related source ./openlink.csh

  4. cd bin
  5. Identify your database agent. Agent names end in _sv or _mv. They begin with prefixes which typically suggest the database to which they connect. For example:

    inf73_mv - Informix 7.3 Database Agent ora80_mv.exe - Oracle 8.0.x Database Agent pro83b_sv - Progress 83B Database Agent

  6. Run the version string command. For example:

    <database agent name> -? - Basic syntax ./inf73_mv -? - Unix-based Informix 7.3 agent string ora80_mv.exe -? - Windows-based Oracle 8.0.x agent string

  7. Copy the first several lines for your evidence report.
