Understanding the Informix native client

The Informix native client is an IBM product that provides access to Informix databases via the Informix proprietary communications protocol. At the time of writing, this product is called INFORMIX-Connect. However, marketing names are subject to change. In fact, the same product is often referred to as Informix-Net or I-Net.
