Pre-Installation Requirements for Single-Tier "Lite" Edition ODBC Driver for Oracle, for Mac OS X

DBMS Requirements

You need to know a variety of information pertaining to your target Oracle DBMS:

• Oracle SID
  
• Oracle TCP Port
  
• Oracle SQL*Net or Net Service Name
  
• Hostname or IP adddress of Oracle database server

Software Requirements

As of this writing, our "Lite" Edition ODBC Driver for Oracle is based on PowerPC?-specific Oracle libraries, and can thus only be used by PowerPC?-based client applications, even on Intel-based Macs.

• PowerPC-native applications, and Universal Binary applications which include PowerPC?-native components, on both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs can connect through our "Lite" Edition ODBC Driver for Oracle.
  
• Intel-native applications, and Universal Binary applications which do not include PowerPC?-native components, on Intel-based Macs can connect through our Single-Tier "Express" Edition or Multi-Tier "Enterprise" Edition.

Configuration Requirements

• There are no software configuration requirements associated with the use of our "Lite" Edition ODBC Driver for Oracle.
