<orderedlist spacing="compact"><listitem> Open the <emphasis>ODBC Data Source Administrator</emphasis> from <emphasis>Control Panel</emphasis> -&gt; <emphasis>System and Security</emphasis> -&gt; <emphasis>Administrative Tools</emphasis>.

<listitem> Select the <emphasis>Drivers</emphasis> tab to see a list of all available ODBC Drivers.
 One of these will be <emphasis><ulink url="OpenLink">OpenLink</ulink> Virtuoso</emphasis>.

<listitem> Select the <emphasis>System DSN</emphasis> tab to see the available Data Source Names (DNSs), one of which should now be <emphasis>Local Virtuoso</emphasis>.
 Select the existing <emphasis>Local Virtuoso</emphasis> DSN and click <emphasis>Configure</emphasis> to edit the defaults, or click <emphasis>Add</emphasis> to create a new DSN.

<listitem> If you chose to <emphasis>Add</emphasis> a DSN, the <emphasis>Create Data Source</emphasis> dialog will be presented; select the <emphasis><ulink url="OpenLink">OpenLink</ulink> Virtuoso</emphasis> ODBC Driver, and click <emphasis>Finish</emphasis>.

<listitem> The first setup panel prompts for a DSN name and description, and basic connection information about the target Virtuoso <emphasis>Server</emphasis> instance(s).
 Click <emphasis>Next</emphasis> when all desired options are set.

<listitem> <emphasis>Server</emphasis> - (Required) Select the drop down list box to invoke the driver&#39;s dynamic discovery of Virtuoso instances on the network and choose the desired instance.
<itemizedlist mark="bullet" spacing="compact"><listitem> If you have an active Internet connection, you can test against <emphasis><computeroutput>demo.openlinksw.com:21118</computeroutput></emphasis>, which we keep online most of the time (except when upgrading and during some testing).

<listitem> A comma-delimited list of target <computeroutput>&lt;host&gt;:&lt;port&gt;</computeroutput> entries can be used to <ulink url="http://virtuoso.openlinksw.com/dataspace/dav/wiki/Main/VirtRoundRobinDataAccessClients">enable fault-tolerant or load-balanced connections to clustered instances</ulink>.

<listitem> <emphasis>This server requires a secure connection (SSL)</emphasis> - If this box is ticked, the driver will demand an SSL encrypted connection to the target Virtuoso instance(s).
 If a targeted instance is not configured for or capable of SSL connections, the connection will fail.
 <emphasis>This setting is not needed for connections to Virtuoso instances which are configured to demand SSL connections from clients; such demands are handled automatically by the driver.</emphasis> </listitem>
<listitem> <emphasis>Use <ulink url="RoundRobin">RoundRobin</ulink> for failover connection</emphasis> - <ulink url="http://virtuoso.openlinksw.com/dataspace/dav/wiki/Main/VirtRoundRobinDataAccessClients">Enables load-balanced connections to clustered instances</ulink>, when <emphasis>Server</emphasis> has multiple target <computeroutput>&lt;host&gt;:&lt;port&gt;</computeroutput> entries.
