OpenLink ODBC Driver for Progress (Lite Edition) Pre-Installation Requirements
Pre-Installation Requirements for Unix Clients
DBMS Requirements
You need to know a variety of information pertaining to your target Progress database:
- Your Progress database server's hostname or IP address
- Whether or not your database queries fire 4GL triggers
- Whether or not your database queries involve Array fields
You need to restart your Progress database in sockets mode if it is running in shared memory mode.
Software Requirements
- You must have functional Progress Client Networking installed on the same machine as OpenLink's Progress SQL89 Lite Drivers. You must have functional Progress SQL Access installed on the same machine as OpenLink's Progress SQL92 Lite Drivers. You can obtain these products from your Progress install CDs or the Progress Web site.
- You need OpenLink's SQL89 drivers to access Progress databases in SQL89 or 4GL mode. This provides access to triggers, connectivity to multiple databases with one ODBC connection, OpenLink's specialized tableview configuration, and a particular presentation of Progress array data familiar to the Progress community. These drivers are the version specific drivers with names like Multi-Threaded ODBC Driver for Progress 91D.
- You need OpenLink's SQL92 drivers to run SQL92 queries against Progress. These drivers currently have generic naming conventions such as Multi-Threaded ODBC Driver for Progress 9.1.
Configuration Requirements
- You need to ensure Progress's DLC and PROCFG environment variables are set.
